'El clasico rioplatense' will take over Santa Fe on Saturday as two of the cup favorites will take to the pitch with a spot in the semifinals at stake.

No changes for Argentina as Sergio Batista calls the same lineup that earned a 3-0 victory against Costa Rica last time out.

Oscar Tabarez will look to Diego Forlan and Luis Suarez to find the net against their neighbors as they are shorthanded with the absence of Edinson Cavani, who is still recovering from injury.

Argentina escaped Group A with five points, finishing in second place.

The host nation could only manage one goal from its first two games in the competition, but came alive in the last game against Costa Rica, winning 3-0.

Striker Sergio Aguero is the top scorer in the tournament with three goals, including a brace against Costa Rica.

This will be Argentina's second game in Santa Fe in the Copa America. It drew 0-0 against Colombia in its first appearance in the province.

The winner of the contest will face the victor of Colombia and Peru in the semifinals in La Plata on Tuesday.

Uruguay finished second in Group C with five points, two behind winners Chile.

The top scorer on the team in the tournament is not Forlan, Suarez or Cavani - it is defender Alvaro Pereira, who has two goals.

A win would clinch Uruguay's fifth straight appearance in the semifinals.

The last meeting that took place between the two sides was in October 2009 when a Mario Bolatti goal six minutes from time clinched Argentina's qualification to the World Cup in South Africa.

Cavani will not play as he is still recuperating from a knee injury suffered against Chile in the team's second game. The striker did not play in the 1-0 victory over Mexico.

Uruguay coach Oscar Tabarez fears Copa America elimination

Uruguay coach Oscar Tabarez has admitted that South America's football giants could crash out of the 2011 Copa America, as the Celeste, Argentina and Brazil all face vital matches in the group stage's last round.

The three South American powerhouses have staggered to draws in all of their games so far, meaning that while such unheralded nations as Peru and Venezuela have secured passage to the last eight, the trio must win their last games to be certain of avoiding a humiliating early exit.

Uruguay play Mexico on Tuesday evening to decide their Copa fate, and Tabarez is taking nothing for granted despite the North Americans' defeats to both Chile and Peru.

Argentina legend Diego Maradona has moved to defend star player Lionel Messi in the aftermath of the South American country's disappointing performances at the 2011 Copa America.

Venezuela coach Cesar Farias calls for focus from his squad ahead of vital Copa America clash with Paraguay

Venezuela coach Cesar Farias has expressed his satisfaction with the way things have been going in the Copa America so far, but stated that they haven't qualified for the next round of the competition just yet.

His side have surprised many and currently sit at the top of the table in Group B with four points from two games after a draw against Brazil and a win over Ecuador but has insisted that his side must keep their feet on the ground.

The Venezuela coach then looked back at his side's 1-0 win over Ecuador on Saturday and was full of praise for the team.

Farias made it clear that Venezuela's third match against Paraguay will be crucial and stated that they have to remain level-headed and not become overconfident. source goal.com

Captain Lucio won his 100th international cap against Venezuela last weekend, becoming only the fourth Brazilian to reach the century milestone.

In the South American nation's 23 man squad for the tournament, Robinho is the player with the most international goals, grabbing 25 in 87 appearances.

Mano Menezes' men are currently in a run of inconsistent form, with the team winning two, drawing two and losing two of its last six fixtures.

Paraguay has been runners up in the competition on five occasions.

The last time the Paraguayan national side met Brazil, it succumbed to a 2-1 defeat in qualification for the 2010 World Cup two years ago.

Striker Salvador Cabanas, who was horrifically shot in the head in January 2010, is an honorary member of the squad as he steps up his rehabilitation in the hope of a return to football.

In the last 10 fixtures, Paraguay has won five, drawn three and been defeated on two occasions.
